I find your message very up lifting. To my search on how it is that I may help and assist in serving the Police Officers of my community. the every day sacrifices they make on behalf of protecting and serving our communities. thank you for the inspiring words and message you put together. It touched a special place in me, that brings back the remembrance of who I am and what it is that I need to do.

I like your website. It is very informative. I am planning on carring-out a career in the K9, FBI field. Thank you the time that you put into this site. By the way, I am 15 yrs old and attend Arab High School. I wish that we had a course that deals with the police force. I think It would be awsome to have a dog as my partner. Thank you for the time spent on your this page.

I have seen a tag, "PBG X3" in a men's employee restroom at the Oriental Trading Company in Omaha, Nebraska. I came across your website while looking up via Google what gang it referred to. I'm communicating with persons here to address the problem. I only worked at that company briefly through a temp agency; probably just as well as I think employers that take little action against this are best avoided.

I love that you all have great information, because I am going into law enforcement to be a police officer for two years and I am going to switch over to K-9 Training. I love the whole idea of having a dog to be my partner, not that theirs anything wrong with working with humans, but you can learn a lot from them. by the way i am 16 years old in a police program and I am enjoying it a lot.

Excellent web page. I'm a detective for the El Paso Police Department (Texas). I have been assigned to the Gang Unit and have worked for other plainclothes units that are directly affected by gangs, i.e., burlgary, robbery, enhanced theft, auto theft, etc.. Currently, I work street narcotics and buy from these guys everyday. We have Surenos down here, but not many. Although, they are increasing in strength as many people are moving down here from L.A. for housing reasons. Barrio Azteca is still king, but they are a bunch of heroined-out junkies. I read that you have some Aztecas up there. Keep them!!!

I am the proud wife of a fellow ex-police officer as well as ex-DEA and ATF officer and who is now for the past 11 years been an american soldier serving our country proudly. In his younger teen age years he was no saint his self which is why he joined law enforcement and the military as well as the love and passion for the job. Many nights i lay awake with the wonder in my mind of the what if questions;ie. what if he never made it home or what if we never met because his last meeting was the call of duty that took him away? I thank God he is here and in my life and now expecting a baby girl he will cherish for ever. I guess what im saying is ladies love you husbands and hold them close to you in all ways pray for them and never let the thaught of doubt enter your mind about them not comming home. I WANT TO THANK EACH AND EVERY OFFICER SERVING NO MATTER YOUR AGE GENDER OR CREED FOR THE WORK YOU DO AND THE PASSION THAT DRIVES YOU TO PROTECT AND SERVE WITH YOUR OWN LIVES KNOWING YOUR FAMILY IS AT HOME WAITING FOR YOU.FOR THE FAMILIES OF FALLEN OFFICERS THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING YOUR LOVED ONE AND PLEASE KNOW THEY DIDNT DIE IN VIEN.THEY WENT WITH LOVE AND CARE TO SERVE WITH OUT COMPLAINTS AND DID IT PROUDLY.EVEN THOUGH GONE, THEY ARE STILL PAYROLING SERVING AND PROTECTING YOU AND YOU FAMILY BY WATCHING OVER YOU DAY AND NIGHT.REMEMBER WHO THEY WERE AND THIER PURPOSE AND MOST OF ALL WHY THEY SERVED. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. ANASTACIA MORENO

Thank-you for the education. Best site I have found to learn about this gang crime disease. I see the graffiti spread from city core to small town Americana as our society has let this problem grow out of control. Getting rid of the grafitti early and keeping it gone is an easy way to stay on top of the disease. Like treating poison ivy! I would like to see cities convict and ban (evict - deport) these hucksters from municipalities as they are caught.

I am working on a doctorate degree in Psychology and my assignment was to research Bystander Effect” (is a psychological phenomenon where persons are less likely to intervene in an emergency situation when others are present than when they are alone) which led me to articles on Civil Courage. Police officers are good examples of Civil Courage: “the term is usually referred to when civilians stand up against something that is deemed unjust and evil, knowing that the consequences of their action might lead to their death, injury, or any other negative effect.’ Police officers do that in their professional lives as well as their personal one. This site brought tears to my eyes. I am grateful for all that police officers do in the line of duty as well as in their lives. They prove that the men and women that are trained in police work do not fit the "Bystander" definition. Thank You Respectfully Submitted: Kate Michaud

The Fraternal Order of Police Longmont Lodge 6 today followed the recommendation of its Board of Directors and voted unanimously to endorse the City of Longmont’s proposed Public Safety Tax and urges the citizens of Longmont to vote yes on this issue. The Longmont FOP is the representative police labor organization of nearly 90 percent of the police officers employed by the city of Longmont. Although the City of Longmont administration and the FOP were at odds in the 2004 election initiative to gain collective bargaining for the city’s police employees, the issue has no bearing on this decision. The Fraternal Order of Police believes this is an issue crucial to public safety services in Longmont. The Fraternal Order of Police will work hard to assist in the passage of this important election issue. Any member of the media with follow-up questions are asked to contact the FOP Lodge 6 Public Information Officer between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Press release 10-17-06

The Fraternal Order of Police Longmont Lodge 6 joins with the City Administration in support of the Public Safety Tax. Longmont Lodge 6 represents nearly 90 percent of the police officers working for the City of Longmont. On Tuesday, November 7, Longmont residents will vote on an increase in the City’s sales and use tax of three and one-quarter cents on each ten-dollar purchase. This vote will not provide for higher wages or better benefits for Longmont’s police officers, but it will provide for a safer community. If approved, proceeds will be used to increase the level of service for public safety in Longmont. If approved this tax benefits every citizen of Longmont.

Longmont Police Department staffing ratios for sworn police officers are below the front-range average. In 2005, the front-range average for sworn police officers to population was 1.57 officers per 1,000 residents. For Longmont this ratio was less than 1.45 per 1,000. In the 2002, the City Council set a goal to staff the City with 1.6 police officers per 1000 citizen population in accordance with projected public safety needs. Per this goal, the City would currently have 136 police officers protecting and serving the City of Longmont. However because of less than projected revenues the City had to scrap this goal due to financial short falls in the budget. As a result today we have less than 120 police officers which equates to running at least two patrol shifts short. That is inadequate and unacceptable.

Due to serious staffing issues officers are commonly responding to calls without adequate back-up. In 2005, it was necessary to have a police officer break from a lower priority call for service to handle a higher priority call an average of 14 times a day. During the last three years, only one officer could respond to calls for service that necessitated a minimum response of two police officers 35% of the time. Two officer responses are required to safely handle domestic violence, weapons calls, fights and disturbances, persons under the influence of alcohol and narcotics, and mental subjects who are out of control. This is a citizens’ and an officers’ safety issue.

Currently, Longmont’s sales tax rate is one of the lowest in the area. Even with this increase, Longmont’s rate will continue to be one of the lowest rates in the area. Funding provided by this tax will provide the staffing and resources necessary to adequately enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide for a safe environment to the citizens of Longmont.

The Fraternal Order of Police does not look at this as a tax increase; we look at it as an investment in the future of our great city. The citizens of Longmont will decide in this election the level of public safety service they want and are willing to pay for. The members of Longmont’s Fraternal Order of Police urge the citizens of Longmont to vote yes on 2A for a safer community.

I read parts of some of the poems, and I know that it is a difficult job that you have to do, especially in the time we are living in, where things are waxing worse and worse. I pray God's protection, and guidance upon your law enforcement officers, and for the protection of your family members. I also pray that if any of you don't believe in God that He will change your hearts. Please so not harden your hearts against God. We need Him now more than ever. God Bless, and all the best.

I think that your web site is very informational and educational. It has also motivated me to become more involed in gang and organized crime prevention in any way possible. I have always been a supporter of fighting crime in my own suttle ways. A lot of times I have become somewhat of a double agent putting myself at risk with the hells angles as well as other gangs. I have not been as involved latley because of fear for my family that lives in longmont. I still fear that one day one of these affiliates will seek thier revenge on me or one of my family members. Because of this fear, my passion to stop them has grown even more. I now sometimes come accross as a threatening or aggressive person, when approached by a suppected gang member. I do this out of fear and defense. I also listen to a variety of music to try and understand these affilliets. It has almost become an obssession for me. I have no allterive motives other than self gratification, hoping to make my community a safer place for true americans and future generations such as my daughter.

Your new story on toy guns really says a lot about the Valdez family and those who think like them when it comes to how police respond to a danger to themselves and the public (real or percieved. Mr Valdez and his small minded children should thank their lucky stars all that happened was him having a few guns pointed at him and handcuffs put on. Of course what happened to him had nothing to do with childish immature behavior, but of course it was a racist act. How stupid and blind can one family be. Unfortunately the world is full of minorities, and also whites, who refuse to accept responsibility for their actions when it is so much easier to blame the other part of society for the consequences they experience as a result of their stupid behaviors. Thank you for the job you guys do. I will always be on your side.

I am glad to have visited your web site. Police officers aren't just men and women in uniform. They are my brothers and sisters in uniform. I stand by them and support them when they need it. I have had several police officer friends die in my twenty years of law enforcement, and each time a part of me goes with them. I give their family support, and I am there when they need me. On 02 May 06, I suffered a brain aneurysm. If it had not been for two of my fellow officers coming to my house and checking on me after I failed to show up for work, I would have died. My son would have found me when he would have come home from work that night. I was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where emergancy surgery was performed two days later. The docters told my family and friends that had I not been found, I would have died. The docters also said that if I survived the surgery, I would be a vegtable. Thanks to the power of prayer, I proved the docters wrong. My fellow officers, from all around, stood beside my family and I, praying and giving us all support. Thanks to the Lord God, I am here today. My two children can see their daddy again, talking to them, and giving them the love they need. I have been back at work for a month now, and the docters can't believe that. One of my docters, after he examined me, said, "it's a miracle." Yes, it is. Our God is a God of love. We must all belive in Him, and have faith. My fellow officers, and family, had faith, and prayed. I owe God and my fellow officers my life. I thank you for the opportunity to share my experience with you. If you ever need me to testify about how awsome the power of God is, please contact me. My e-mail address is, "laatcagent@policeone.com." Sincerely, Bradley L. Bordelon

I just want to let you know that I am glad that there are people who take time to create websites, showing people how our country is being flooded with gangs. In addition that gangs affiliations come in every race. The parents/guardians/caretakers should be aware of these young kids’ activities. In addition some one should help these young kids’ realize that by them being in gangs, they are losing out on great opportunities in their lives that, is if they are not killed. Most of them don’t just graduate junior high school. Some one should let them know that the state that they live in is gaining profits from them. Each state shows the government how many people are living there (census) in order to receive funds. This includes INMATES, which produces more police officers, CORRECTION OFFICERS, etc.

This website has been a huge help to me in the research that I am doing. We have seen an increase in Hispanic gangs in our area and as a Juvenile Probation Officer, I am seeing more and more younger children coming into my office that are affiliated with these gangs. Thank you for your insight.

Thank you for the info on what you guys are doing about the gangs in Longmont. This should have started long ago. I hope the police plan on staying on top of this prblem from here on out. I have seen it growing in the five years I have lived here and complained top the police and nothing changed. Now we have a dead kid, a town full of grafiti and finally some action from the police. Please get it under control and keep it that way.

There are two kinds of cops in this world. Those that look at what they do as just a "job". They talk teamwork but in fact are out only for themselves. Then there are the rest who understand the brotherhood of the profession and look at what they do as a calling in life. They understand the need to band together and hold the line. Your website promotes all that is good about our profession. Your organization is all about unity, professionalism, and banding together for the good of yourselves and our profession. I am proud to have made a visit. And although like most departments you more than likely have some of those who fit the unfortunate "out for themselves" category who will reap any benefits you bring their way. I would have to belief most of them don't belong to your organization and unfortunately don't stand alongside their brothers and sisters. To those of you who do I am proud to call you my brothers and sisters. Be safe.

I visted the officer down link from your site and was shocked to learn over 140 police officers have been killed this year and even more shocked to learn this is about average. They didn't die just doing a job. Like soldiers they died protecting the freedom of those they serve. It must be a burden knowing each day when going to work that you may be the next number. I for one am impressed with your courage and dedication.
