Proud Professionals
Serving The Citizens of Longmont, Colorado
|
We receive thousands of visits to our web site each year. We welcome all
members of the public to browse our site. It is designed to give insight
about the job we do. You may notice we refer to each other as
brothers and sisters. For police officers everywhere we truly are family
in an occupation, which is unique to say the least. There is a closeness
and unity in our profession that is difficult to describe. We are the thin
blue line and stand tall separating society from anarchy and chaos. We
enforce the rules and laws of the land. We are frequently criticized
by the media, or treated with indifference or contempt. We are rarely
thanked for the job we do. We accept that and serve proudly knowing we do
make a difference. A City will never find a more loyal or dedicated group
of employees than those who will lay down their lives for its' citizens.
Unfortunately the City rarely looks at it in that light.
When danger lurks we are there.
If someone reports a man with a gun we rush to confront him while all others
rush away. We see the day-to-day sadness and misery on the streets
and try to sort it out. We frequently see man's inhumanity to man.
We are cursed, punched, kicked, threatened and spit on or worse during the
course of our careers. Rarely does one go an entire career without
injury in the line of duty. On an average across the nation one of our brother
or sister officers dies in the line of duty every other day serving those they
are sworn to protect. We must make split second decisions, which could
mean life or death. There is little margin for error. We serve our
citizens 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We place the lives of the
citizens we serve above our own. We love our jobs and proudly serve those
we are sworn to protect. Our goal at the start of every shift is to
go home to our loved ones when the day is done. When one of our brother or
sisters calls for help we all respond. I still remember the words of
my instructor at the Academy, "Welcome to the greatest show on earth!!"
Well it has been all that and more. We are the Police. This is
our job. This is what we do. So welcome and enjoy your visit
to our world. - The Webmaster

The Fraternal Order of Police is the world's
largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 2,300 lodges and nearly 325,000 members.
The Colorado FOP is the largest law enforcement organization in the state. We
are the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our
communities. No one knows the dangers and the difficulties faced by
today's police officers better than another officer, and no one knows police
officers better than the FOP.
The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge Three's Longmont Police Officers Association is committed to improving the working
conditions of police officers and the safety of those we serve through
education, legislation, information, community involvement, and employee
representation. We are a professional police labor organization committed to the
promotion of our profession and protecting the interests of our membership and
the citizens of Longmont. FOP Lodge 6 is part of the Colorado Fraternal
Order of Police. We are also closely aligned with our brother and sister firefighters
of the Longmont Professional Firefighters Association-IAFF, and work together in
areas of common interest to promote public safety.

The Executive Board
of FOP Lodge 6 realizes communication is the key to the success of any
organization. Therefore, this website has been developed by me as a
primary source of information for our members. We welcome all
visitors to our website. We hope you find the information contained herein
informative and interesting. There are informative and fun police related
links, which we hope you will take the time to explore.
Fop
Lodge 6 replaced it's successor organization LPOA, which had been in existence for over twenty years. We
pay tribute to all past officers of both organizations who made us what we are
today. They held their posts for no personal gain and worked unselfishly
for the betterment of all Longmont police officers and our profession.
This website is dedicated to our membership, the Longmont Police Department and
the citizens we serve. It is designed to portray our association and
our police department in a truthful and realistic manner.
FOP Lodge 6 believes this site will attract
potential police officer candidates to seek employment at one of the best
departments in Colorado, the Longmont Police Department. The men and women
of the Longmont Police Department provide police services to a population of
over 80,000 and growing. Longmont, Colorado is located on the front range
of the Rocky Mountains approximately 35 miles north of Denver. If you are
considering a career with the Longmont Police Department we suggest you contact
FOP Lodge 6 (contact
us) for information on pay and benefits. Or you can go to the City's
recruitment page: (Recruitment)
